December 3rd, 2015, 7:30 -8:45 Pass the Plate – Breakfast Fundraiser for the Union County Community Shelter at Saint Margaret’s Episcopal Church on Rea Rd in Waxhaw, North Carolina

Cox Law Firm is pleased to be the presenting sponsor for Pass the Plate 2015 – Western Union County.  The breakfast fundraiser for the Union County Community Shelter is December 3rd, 2015 from 7:30 – 8:45 a.m. at Saint Margaret’s Episcopal Church off Rea Rd in Waxhaw, North Carolina.  This is the first year the Community Shelter is holding a fundraiser in the Western part of Union County.  In addition to raising funds, the Community Shelter is seeking to raise awareness of its mission throughout Union County, including Waxhaw, Weddington, Marvin,Wesley Chapel and Indian Trail.  The Community Shelter helps real people from Union County with real problems and seeks to get them rehoused.  Union County Community Shelter is located in downtown Monroe and is the only full-service shelter and soup kitchen in Union County.  The Community Shelter relies heavily on donations from the community.  Most of the people served by the Community Shelter are situationally homeless as opposed to chronically homeless.  Situationally homeless means that they have spent most of their lives housed, and a specific hardship occurred that left them without shelter.  The Community Shelter has a ninety day stay limit.  On average, clients of the shelter are out within thirty-eight days, and the Shelter’s case managers offer resources to people for twelve months after they receive housing.  If you are interested in helping the Union County Community Shelter, please visit their website at  www.unionshelter.org or 704-261-3496.
